The Nursery is DONE!

Phil has worked hard on the nursery since we moved into our house. According to him and my dad I picked very heavy furniture :) That means it's sturdy right?! Thanks to our parents who got us our awesome furniture!! The first thing we had to do was pick the paint color for the walls. We tested out three and Martha Stewart won!

Our three color choices...
Daddy getting to work with the winning blue!

Now that the paint is done and dry... time to work on the heavy cribs!
He even fakes a smile for me!!
Finished product!
Thanks for the bedding Mom!
The boys' dresser! (sorry the camera is crooked so the letters look way off!)

Thanks to Phil's mom for the awesome curtains! She was able to use our leftover bedding we weren't using to make them! So cute!
Phil's mom also gave these pictures to us for Christmas. Each boy has been named after someone in our family whether if be first and middle or just middle name :) The pictures in the frames are of all of the people in our families that share the name. It goes all the way back to the Phil's Great Grandfather.

We are so ready for these little guys to get here! We can't wait to see what they look like and hear their first cry!

34 week growth scan and check-up

Wednesday we had our second growth scan to make sure the boys were growing at a good pace. Surprise! They are fine and HUGE! One is weighing 7lb7oz (he's laying across my belly right under/in my ribs, transverse position) and one is weighing 6lb4oz (he is laying head down, vertical). The tech seemed very surprised because we have 5 weeks left until our scheduled c-section and they are both weighing full term for a singleton pregnancy.

Now, usually twins are not the size of full term singletons so I was a little concerned. I don't have gestational diabetes which is usually the cause for larger babies so I was eager to go talk to the Dr. on Friday....

Friday rolls around and Phil and I are in the room waiting for the doctor to come in. Our doctor walks in and immediately says, "So you make some big babies huh?". Apparently! We talked about whether or not that was a bad thing and he said no because everything else looks great.

He does want to run another glucose tolerance test just to make sure my blood sugar is OK. I get to drink that gross drink again and have my blood drawn twice in 1 hour :( I also asked if he still wants me to go 5 more weeks until I am 39 weeks and 1 day. He said well since it's 39 weeks we can move it up to 38 weeks, especially since they are such a great size. So it looks like we may be moving it up, still waiting to hear from him.

He also said there is only a 50/50 chance I will make it to my c-section date, so it could be any day now. I feel like a ticking time bomb.... just waiting to go off! Kinda crazy that they can come at any minute. For now, I am trying to take it easy, especially when I start having contractions, but still feeling pretty good.

Some belly shots....

I just noticed I haven't posted a belly shot since 20 weeks so let me give you an update of the past 12 weeks :)

25 Weeks

28 Weeks - Phil is SO funny

29 weeks

31 weeks

I am 32 weeks and 1 day today. We went to the doctor today and I am measuring 41 weeks! Yes, that's more than a full term single pregnancy! I can't believe I have 7 weeks left! Lots of growing left to do... even though I can't even imagine it. I envision a lot of me and the couch bonding in the coming weeks....

"Are you...ummm... having just one baby?!"

Yes, I get comments like this all the time. I obviously live in a very populated area, so it's not like you don't see several pregnant women every day walking around, but for some reason I am like the circus freak of pregnant people. When Phil comes home I always tell him about what this or that person said to me today. I don't think he really ever got it until we were out to dinner the other night. We went to Souplantation (every pregnant woman's dream!). Well I was walking up to the cashier, while Phil was still piling up his salad plate, and she looks at me with the bug eyes popping out of her head as asks "Are you... ummm...having just one baby?!" I politely say no it's twins. All the while, I'm thinking in my head - you're lucky I'm having two, considering how appalled you are at my ginormous belly!

Then I hear the managers talking about how one of their sister had a really big baby, blah blah blah. Well, I eat my salad and it's time to go to the pizza bar! I load up my plate and come back to the table while Phil is still browsing. I am sitting by myself and one of the managers comes up to me (obviously after speaking with the cashier) and asks "Do you know what they are?" I politely tell her it's two boys. She says oh that will be so fun, and I want to say... and two girls wouldn't be? but I don't :) Then she proceeds to ask me when I'm due, along with a few more comments, and finally walks away so I can start eating.

Here are some more favorites that have happened to me lately...

Random stranger - "When are you due?"
Me - "Oh, not until the end of March"
Random stranger - Eyes pop out of their heads like I'm insane
Me - "Don't worry, there are two in here"
Random stranger - (always a different response but here are some of my fav's) "oh God bless you, I mean congratulations." "Oh wow, good luck" "Good luck, I hope you can keep standing!"

While walking out of costco the lady checking receipts yells, no joke, YELLS "Woooooo, you got just one baby or twins in there?!"
Once again, I would LIKE to say, lady, you're lucky I'm having twins! I mean, really could you imagine having one baby and someone saying that to you!? But no, I politely say, I am having twins. She says "Oh wow, good luck to you!"

Anyway, I am only getting bigger so I'm sure I will have plenty more questions, stares and comments before our boys get here! For now I am getting used to the stares.... kind of. Hopefully I can continue being polite and biting my tongue. I've heard the comments don't stop after their born either, instead of me being the circus freak the twins will be.

Here's a pic of me at 31 weeks so you can see how large I am :)
